Kwakeithel eased to a 3-0 victory over Sagolband United (SU) while FC Zalen edged past SSU 2-1 today in the ongoing 11th Manipur State League at Mapal Kangjeibung. In the first encounter of the day between TRAU and SU, the former dominated possession and were in control of the match. Sh Meiraba of TRAU broke the deadlock in the 19th minute as he found no difficulty in converting a brilliant attempt off a pass from Amir Khan. TRAU extended the lead in a span of three minutes as L Sanatomba found the net of their opponents through a long pass from M Meino. The first half ended with the team taking an easy 2-0 lead. Even as SU put up a spirited fight to equalise the goals, their attempts turned out bootless. Rather they ceded one more goal in the 80th minute as TRAU’s Th Vandona was bang on target.
In the second encounter, FC Zalen scored a goal each in both halves to scrap past SSU 2-1. Even as both sides started the match formidably, the Sadar Hills team were visibly in an advantageous position. Paolenlal Khongsai banged in the opener for FC Zalen in the 38th minute and the first half ended with the Sadar Hills side taking a 10 lead. SSU struggled hard to restore parity in the second half. However, they felt wanting in converting some chances. Lamgoulen extended the goal account of FC Zalen as he booted home a superb one in the 88th minute that eventually earned full points to the team. Penalty was awarded against FC Zalen in the 90th minute. L Gogocha of SSU stepped up and converted the penalty to reduce the goal difference.
